Diamonds are of course one of the most highly priced items in the world and take millions of years to form. hey also happen to be a lot of fun to draw, and don’t worry we’ll have you drawing one in no time at all. You can shade it in at the end to make it look more 3dimensional, or colour it in if you like.
How to Draw a Diamond Step 1 Start with a Straight Line
Step 1 is super easy, you just need to draw a straight line from left to right about a third of the way down your page as shown in the picture. This is going to be the beginning of the top of the diamond.
How to Draw a Diamond Step 2 Draw Two Lines to Form the Bottom Point
Now you can to make an upside down equilateral triangle by drawing two lines at a 45 degree angle to meet in a point and form the bottom of the diamond. Check out the picture or the video to help.
How to Draw a Diamond Step 3 Draw Two Lines Upwards at the Top
It’s time to start drawing the top of the diamond by drawing two diagonal lines at a 45 degree angle from the first line you drew in Step 1. Make sure they are both the same length and angle as shown in the picture.
How to Draw a Diamond Step 4 Draw a Straight Line Across the Top
Now you are going to complete the outline of the diamond by drawing a straight line across the page, connecting the two lines you drew in Step 3. Again, check the picture or video out to help.
How to Draw a Diamond Step 5 Connect the Top Two Corners to the Bottom
At this point we can connect the two top corners of the diamond to the very bottom point with two diagonal lines. You will be able to see another triangle forming inside the diamond – one that is longer and narrower.
How to Draw a Diamond Step 6 Draw a Last Triangle Inside the Trapezium Top
We are now going to make one last triangle inside your diamond inside the ‘trapezium’ shape at the top middle of your diamond, as the picture shows. Start at the corner of this trapezium shape and draw another diagonal line which will end in the middle of the straight line you drew in Step 4. Repeat this from the other corner of the trapezium shape, again finishing in the middle of the straight line at the very top of your diamond.
Now you can shade or colour in your diamond. Try to think of where the light source would be in your picture to capture the shadows and sparkles. We have imagined the light source coming from the top left of the page, and shaded it in accordingly.
Add some extra sparkle if you like!
