Mountain Drawing Easy Guide Step 1 – Draw the Foothills of Your Mountain

All you need for this easy drawing is a pen/pencil, paper and some colouring supplies.

We start with drawing two curved lines at the bottom of your page, as the picture shows. One overlaps the other to illustrate the foothills that our mountain range is going to be nestled in.

Mountain Drawing Easy Guide Step 2 Draw a Jagged Outline

This easy step involves drawing the outline of your first mountain, which is going to be biggest one in the range. Starting at the right hand side of your page draw a jagged line from the edge of the page to finish along the curved line of your foothills, as seen in the picture and video.

Make sure you have a nice peak in the middle, as shown.

Easy Mountain Drawing Step 3 – Draw a Second Mountain

Now we will draw another rugged line to form a second, smaller mountain on the left hand side of the page.

Mountain Drawing – Step 4 Draw a Third Mountain in Between

At this point we are going to draw a third mountainous peak in between the first two, as shown in the picture and video. You can add in as many peaks as you like here, even ones that fade into the distance, but we are just leaving it as three peaks.

Mountain Drawing Easy Guide Step 5 Add in Extra Details to the Slopes

Now we want to fill in some extra details on our mountains. Many mountains are so high that they have snow at their peaks all year round, so we are going to add in snow at the top of each of our three peaks.

You can also add in some extra lines to show the slopes on the sides of the mountains. Check the picture and video to help with this.

Mountain Drawing Easy Guide Step 6 Add in Trees to the Foreground

Now we are going to add in some fir trees to the foreground of our drawing – just to make things a little more authentic. If you need some extra help with this you could try our ‘Christmas Tree Drawing Easy Guide.’
Three or four trees is fine, but you can add more if you wish!

You can hang your sky according to the time of day and season of the year. We have gone for a few stars and a full moon, to give a nice, wintry, cosy feel to our mountain drawing. Check out the picture or video to give you ideas.

Mountain Drawing Easy Guide Step 8 Colour it In!

You can definitely mix things up a little here if you like, there are many different colour palettes for a mountain scene, throughout the seasons and times of day or night. We’ve kept things quite muted to keep with a wintry scene, but you could have brighter colours if your mountain drawing is during Spring, Summer or even the Fall (Autumn).
